Survey reveals growing public concern about climate change

A growing majority of British adults (64%) believe climate change is happening and is primarily down to human activity, according to a new survey. The ComRes research for the Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit (ECIU) further found that harm to wildlife and nature (80%), and an increase in flooding (73%) were key concerns for the majority of British people, while three in five (60%) were concerned about more variation in the availability and price of some foods. Andrew Hawkins, Chairman of ComeRes, said: “The significance of this is that the public are becoming increasingly willing to see polluting energy sources phased out, to adopt alternative technologies and accept public policy changes to shift behaviour.”
