UK rises in EY renewables rankings

The UK has reached 10th position in EY’s latest Renewable Energy Country Attractiveness Index (RECAI). Released on Tuesday 16 May, the index identified that the UK environment for renewables is more settled than in recent years. However, EY also warned that there is “little clarity” around the landscape post-Brexit and issues including renewable energy targets, subsidies and connections with mainland power markets are “unlikely” to be resolved before Brexit. Ben Warren, EY’s Head of Energy Corporate Finance, commented: “The UK continues to underwhelm investors who are waiting to see if future UK policy will support and encourage the renewable energy industry towards a subsidy-free environment, where consumers can benefit from the UK’s excellent natural resources for renewable energy.”
